Vallasadya, the annual ritualistic feast at centuries-old Sree Parthasarathy temple on the banks of the Pampa at Aranmula, would take place for four days from July 30, Monday.
Over 1,50,000 people take part in the sumptuous feast with as many as 48 dishes spread out.
The organizers, who introduced web casting last year to bring the fervor of the Vallasadya live to devotees and others across the world, are planning its repeat this year as well. As many as 3,00,000 people watched the Vallasadya via Webcast to the Internet last year, they said.
Secretary of the Palliyoda Seva Sangham (PSS) which organises Vallasadya, Ratheesh Mohan, said web casting helped spread awareness about the ritualistic festival to people across the world.
About 5,000 foreign tourists take part in the Vallasadya every year though interior Aranmula is cut off from the state’s mainstream.
The Palliyoda Seva Sangham, apex body of various Palliyoda Karayogams that own snake boats, is organising Vallasadya with support from Travancore Devaswom Board, the temple’s administrative body.
As part of it, the snake boat crew will reach the temple in their respective Palliyodams to partake the feast.
They will be accorded a customary reception at the temple ghats and are escorted to the temple premises with the accompaniments of traditional percussion and Thalappoli.
The live moments of the webcast feast, ending on October 2, can be watched on www.aranmulavallamkali.com and www.aranmulavallamkali.in
