We got to WebCast the press event for the new Phillip K. Dick version of Total Recall.  The picture that should have been made the first time around back in in 1990.

If Dick we’re only here to see it.

As all of you know, Total Recall 2012 is a new  science fiction  remake of the terrible 1990 film of the same name, which is based on the 1966 short storyWe Can Remember It for You Wholesale” by Philip K. Dick.

Unlike the original 1990 film, the plot of this new version lacks a trip to Mars[2] (good) and contains strong political overtones. In addition, the film also blends Western and Eastern influences together, due to the fact that the two nation states, New Shanghai and Euroamerica are battling for political power.

It is directed by Len Wiseman, written by Mark Bomback, James Vanderbilt, and Kurt Wimmer, starring Colin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale, Jessica Biel, Bryan Cranston, John Cho, and Bill Nighy. It was first announced in 2009.[3] It is scheduled to be released in the United States and Canada on August 3, 2012.[4]

We were asked to WebCast press events for the exciting SciFi pic both here in New York and in our West Coast studio.  On both coasts we used our TriCaster 855’s, Multicordes and three EX3’s.  Great to be a part, even though such a small part of the new film.  We are all big Phillip K. Dick fans and hatted what was done with the earlier film shot in 1990.

Plot

In a futuristic political setting of 2084, after being devastated by war, Earth is divided into two superpowers, Euroamerica and New Shanghai, who are locked in a battle for supremacy. In this world lives Doug Quaid (Colin Farrell), a factory worker suffering from violent nightmares. Dissatisfied with lowly existence, Quaid visits Rekall, a corporation that provides its clients with implanted artificial memories of the lives they would like to have. McClane (John Cho), a Rekall representative, finds that Quaid has already had his memory erased and demands to know why Quaid has come to Rekall. Armed men shoot and kill McClane and other Rekall employees before Quaid kills them. He returns home to his wife Lori (Kate Beckinsale) who, after trying to kill him, reveals that he really is a secret agent and she is not really his wife.

We see the likes of Colin Farrell and Jessica Biel in their futuristic cruisers, and one of Kate Beckinsale getting ready for some action.

We’ve also seen a recent number of clips, which are showing this movie to be shaping up to be really something.

Directed by Len Wiseman, Total Recall arrives in theaters August 3rd, 2012, starring Colin Farrell

Total Recall is an action thriller about reality and memory, inspired anew by the famous short story “We Can Remember It For You Wholesale” by Philip K. Dick. Welcome to Rekall, the company that can turn your dreams into real memories. For a factory worker named Douglas Quaid (Colin Farrell), even though he’s got a beautiful wife (Kate Beckinsale) whom he loves, the mind-trip sounds like the perfect vacation from his frustrating life – real memories of life as a super-spy might be just what he needs. But when the procedure goes horribly wrong, Quaid becomes a hunted man. Finding himself on the run from the police – controlled by Chancellor Cohaagen (Bryan Cranston) – there is no one Quaid can trust, except possibly a rebel fighter (Jessica Biel) working for the head of the underground resistance (Bill Nighy). The line between fantasy and reality gets blurred and the fate of his world hangs in the balance as Quaid discovers his true identity, his true love, and his true fate. The film is directed by Len Wiseman. The screenplay is by Kurt Wimmer and Mark Bomback and the screen story is by Ronald Shusett & Dan O’Bannon and Jon Povill. The producers are Neal H. Moritz and Toby Jaffe.
